My motivation for my project “Peace for Nina“
I think it is important to talk about the consequences of the war through the story of an ordinary but unique woman who lost her son at war. The challenge for me is to tell Nina’s story in the language of cinema. With my film, I cannot and do not want to compete with terrible news tapes where people die, and entire cities are destroyed, it doesn’t matter if it’s Syria or Ukraine. With each month of the war, they are more and more perceived as a daily informational background, causing at first sympathy, and later – simply a desire to fence off. Now, with 5 years of filming behind me, I’m working on making Nina’s story work, first and foremost, on an emotional level. I think that „Peace for Nina“ is more timely than ever, and I would like to finish work on it this year.
