My motivation for my project “Honeymoon“

This is a low-budget movie that can be filmed quickly and outside of Ukraine. The hermetic plot actually unfolds in one location – an apartment, and partly in the yard of a residential building.
We want to recreate the unique experience of people who are ready to share their own stories and their emotions, which they had been living during the occupation, trapped in the prison of their own apartment.
Ukraine is ready to stand and hold on to victory, but as long as this is a fresh open wound, it is important for us to talk about it to the world, because the war is closer than it seems and it can enter the peaceful homes of people also out of the borders of our state.

How do you plan to use the scholarship?

We plan to tour with a camera and microphone the towns of the Kyiv region (Bucha, Borodyanka, Gostomel, Irpin) that suffered from the atrocities of the Russian occupation and record the stories of various people. Besides the script itself, we are considering the possibility of using these documentary fragments later in the film itself. In addition to collecting live testimonies, we will also conduct location scouting: we will create a selection of photos, inspect various residential buildings, their construction, courtyards, floor heights, etc. All these architectural, spatial and technical details will help to create a reliable picture and can significantly affect the plot or separate scenes. The development of our project will include the creation of a package of documents necessary for applying for production financing: writing the script, a synopsis, a treatment, a logline, updating the creative concept, translating the texts into English, selecting visual references (mood board) for the
future film. We are also considering the possibility of involving a script consultant, but already at the final stage of the script for final corrections.
