My motivation for my project “The Days I Would Like To Forget “
Starting from 24.02, all of us stayed in Ukraine and started filming. We feel the need to relect on our vision of this war and thus create one more proof of our subjectness. This film will become an important document of the collective vision of filmmakers who were formed during the Russo-Ukrainian war. Strengthening our narrative is essential to us because this is the witnesses’ and participants’ narrative, unlike propaganda, speculation, and simulacra.
The production process is quite a challenge for us since, right now, Ukraine totally lacks film financing due to war and martial law. That is why creating this film itself, along with keeping at least part of our rights, will be the initial success for us. We don’t want the Ukrainian film industry to stop, taking into account the amount of effort our film community (including ourselves) has put into its renaissance.
